While we are still a few months away from the debut of Gotham KnightsThe upcoming CW series has already received a lot of attention. The series stirred up a lot of strong emotions with the release of the first trailer earlier this spring, as fans were curious as to what the show’s universe of DC Comics-inspired continuity entailed. We’ll still have to wait until 2023 to see exactly what that entails, but a new interview with some of the series’ cast have confirmed some key connections. In a recent interview with TVLineActress Olivia Rose Keegan, Doyla Dent, has confirmed that her character is “the Joker’s daughter,” seemingly confirming the existence of a version of the iconic supervillain in the show’s universe.
“Duela is kind of a complete incarnation like every wild instinct you’ve ever had, which I think we all have that part of ourselves. But it’s just so crazy to see and think like, ‘Oh, what if you just let that take over yourself?'” So it’s a fireball, it’s the wildcard, it’s the Joker’s daughter.”
Navia Robinson, who will play Carrie Kelly in the series, revealed that the version of Robin that preceded Carrie is dead, although it is unclear if Robin is Dick Grayson or Jason Todd.
“Yes, bite it. It’s a polite way to put that, Robinson said of the former Robin. I can’t get over Olivia’s description so I’m going to join her. The way I crowned Doyla is everyone’s wildest instinct, I think Carrie is everyone’s penchant for being helpful and positive and being kind of resilient, so yeah…. Carrie was Batman’s companion.”
